The Flames Athletic Center serves as the home for all UIC volleyball matches.

Christened on June 10, 1999, the Flames Athletic Center is the crown jewel in the University of Illinois at Chicago's effort to bring its Division I men's and women's programs to national prominence.

The $9.25-million, 50,000-square foot venue is a state-of-the-art practice facility and features two NCAA regulation-sized basketball courts; a two-story comprehensive weight training and cardio-fitness center; an in-house sports medicine facility; locker rooms for UIC student-athletes, including locker rooms, team suites, and meeting areas for men's and women's basketball; as well as offices for the basketball, baseball and athletic administration staff.

Several individuals provided leadership to the center through their generous gifts, and each was recognized with selected facilities in the new center being named in their honor. Among those are Pat and Peggy Colvin, whose funding established The Colvin Communication and Administration Center; Arnold J. Hartoch, who helped fund The Arnold J. Hartoch Baseball Suite; William and Cathy Merchantz, whose gift funded The Lambert Basketball Center; and Sidney L. Port, who contributions set up the Port Hall of Excellence.

GETTING TO THE FLAMES ATHLETIC CENTER

From the South: Take Taylor Street/Roosevelt Road exit off of Interstate 90/94 (Dan Ryan Expressway) and turn left at first stoplight, which is Roosevelt Road. The Physical Education Building is located at 901 West Roosevelt Road, about two blocks west, once you exit the expressway. Parking is available just West of PEB on Morgan Street 1/2 Block South of Roosevelt.

From the North: Take Taylor Street/Roosevelt Road exit off of Interstate 90/94 (Kennedy Expressway). At the second stoplight, which is Roosevelt Road, turn right. The Physical Education Building is located at 901 West Roosevelt Road, about one block west, once you turn onto Roosevelt Road. Parking is available just West of PEB on Morgan Street 1/2 Block South of Roosevelt.

From the West: Take Racine Avenue exit off of Interstate 290 (Eisenhower Expressway). Turn right at Racine and immediately make a left onto Harrison Street. Take Harrison Street to Halsted Street and turn right. Take Halsted Street about half a mile to Roosevelt Road. At Roosevelt Road turn right. The Physical Education Building is located at 901 West Roosevelt Road, about one block west, once you turn onto Roosevelt Road. From Downtown: Take the Ashland Avenue exit off of Interstate 290 (Eisenhower Expressway) and turn left onto Ashland. Take Ashland Avenue to Harrison Street and turn left. Take Harrison Street to Halsted Street and turn right. Take Halsted Street about half a mile to Roosevelt Road. At Roosevelt Road turn right.
